Scam
Came to my home trying to tell me that I had missed letters bge had sent out about how I needed to change suppliers. Despite the obvious lie they seemed nice enough, so I agreed to be sent information on them, clarifying they were only sending information. They stated I should sign up immediately as they could only do it in person with them. I declined, saying I would never sign up without researching, and ended the conversation. Received an email asking me to verify security questions and agree to a contract, which I declined. Found other similar scam issues online and cast them from my mind. Two weeks later I get letters from my energy supplier saying that it's being switched to SFE that day. I call them to correct the issue, and the person on the phone seemed to take down a complaint and acknowledge that I was not using them as an energy supplier. She asked if I wanted to file a formal complaint, which I said yes to, then placed me on hold. A minute later it went silent, then hung up. I tried to call back and were told they were closed, so who knows if they even bothered to take down any information. |

Scam
The young lady that came to my door told me how my electric bill would be lower. Received my first bill and because of SFE Energy Maryland my electric bill had doubled. They are charging me a large customer recovery, but I live in an ALL electric home so I will ALWAYS have an overage. The people that come to your home are not knowledgeable about all the extra fees and the customer does not know about the fees until you are already signed up with them. Then they have nerve to want the customer to pay a fee for not wanting to be taken advantage of. I would NEVER recommend SFE Energy to anyone! |

Terrible service
The representatives come door to door and provide you with false information about your bill. I was informed that my bill would not change and it should be cheaper because I was being overcharged. Also informed I could cancel anytime free of charge. After receiving my bill in the mail it in fact went up by 75.00 due to the energy provider. When I called to cancel, I was informed it would be an extra 275.00 bill because I am cancelling service. |

I received a call stating they were BGE, I asked a dozen times. After they got my ID they put some arrogant schmuck on, Rick Jannes, who continued to tell me he was from BGE until he told me to write down the name SFE Energy and basically laughed in my face and told me that's how business is done when I confronted about lying |

While whatever theyre doing seems legal and legitimate, its just a business designed to deceive unsuspecting customers into paying more, and then worst of all , paying a cancellation fee. Bait and switch
My problem was they told me one price and for month it was low. The second month it was high the third bill was higher . I called to cancel and was told I could not. Once I told her I was going to BBB they cancel. My bills have been so much higher then it's been since buying my house in 2005. I would not recommend this company to anyone. |

Person showed up at our door advising us that they are the new energy provider in my neighborhood. Sure, I could have questioned more. My bills went up, cancelling requires a ~$500 fee OR I have to stay with them for another billing cycle. I was manipulated and charged more than if I had stayed with BGE. Total ripoff. |
